Since Cangelo and Omorka have done this, I guess I will give it a shot. I would love to help out friends with their own lists, especially if it is something I am capable of crafting, as money is tight for many folks this year...

tep One
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and lj-related ("I'd love a knitting/buddhism icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not icons, etc), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use—or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free—do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not — it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1) I would love more "garb" I have been short on time to make my own, and I no longer have a properly fitting cloak. I am 5'2" and very curvy, so a full circle cloak would rock. I love black, burgundy and wine shades of red, deep greens and dark purples.

2) Music - I do not have enough music. I love anime, jpop, folk (really need more of that), goth/industrial, oi punk, vivaldi, flutes, violins, bagpipes, etc.

3) A paid Library Thing account, I have almost filled up the 200 book limit they allow free accounts. A UPC scanner thingie from that site is also coolness.

4) A song or poem.

5) Belly dancing gear. I have almost none, and don't know how to make my own.

6) Honey. Lots of it, I have not laid down a batch in over a year, and my stores won't last forever. I would love to start a batch over the winter break.

7) Venison. It is one of my favorite meats, but I do not have hunting skills yet.

8) Textiles. I love fibercrafts. Nearly all of them...I have a weakness for buying or making housewares and things. I love home made presents, they remind me of the people who gave them to me...

9) Company. I would love to have people come over and spend time with me over the holidays. I try to get out more, but narcolepsy plus exhaustion = badness when combined with moving vehicles.

10) What the heck, why not - I would love to have a scooter for going short distances to save gas and make life easier. If you have one that is road worthy, or can easily be made road worthy and you don't want it anymore, I would love to have one to drive around.

Well, not really a centerfold.

But my picture is in a magazine, a couple times even.

But not a dirty magazine.

American Archaeology's Fall edition features a way cool article about the archaeological site I work at YCAP at the RBH Yates House in Freedman's Town in the 4th ward of Houston {NOT MIDTOWN :( }

The article is mostly about the work that Dr. Carol McDavid and Dr. David Bruner (my bosses) do at the site, but it is a well written article and features me in two pictures, hard at work. One was the first image of the article (I am off to the right side of the image in a purple shirt, screening a bucket.) and the other a page or two in, where I am doing the paperwork and crew chiefing for the very first unit I ever worked on back in 2005. I was now helping train other students on the very unit I helped open and trained on under Stephanie Cole as crewchief in January 2005. Pretty neat :D

If you are at all interested in Houston History, civil rights, archaeology, public archaeology, or just well written articles, pick up the fall issue. It's only $4.00.

Normally famous people do not phase me. Two and so far only two things make me go all fan-girl - Musicians from Cruxshadows - especially Rogue and Rachel, and Jaqueline Carey books. I made a plaque for a friend for Yule, and then made a larger version for myself. I wanted to see what kind of fan art she had up on her site, so my hubby looked it up for me, and I saw nothing like the plaques I make. On a whim I sent her an email, and she actually replied in a couple days, telling me she really liked it and it will go up on her website when she does her monthly update. Basically she sent me this...

"Dear Kris,

Thanks very much for the kind words! The Kushiel series has been
challenging and wonderful to write, and I'm delighted that it's finding
such a great readership. Thanks, too, for sharing the wall plaque!
Very cool, I'll be sure to have it added to the gallery at the next
monthly site update for other readers to admire and covet.

Best wishes,

- Jacqueline Carey"

Since she mentioned covet - I thought I would reply and I just offered to make her one as well, if she wanted it for her own, as a thanks for the awesome writing. I wonder if she will want one.

*Squeals*

And now back to the usual scheduled Kris...

so I got really creative lately in a last ditch effort to not spazz about school. Meds have been ok, but they leave me babbling random shit at my hubby and boyfriend, like demanding salmon pancakes for breakfast and worrying if we bought buffalo that it would cause the freezer to crash through the floor and have an angry buffalo in the basement (no, we have no basement, and I have no idea why the buffalo would have been alive in a freezer anyway and yeah) so Diehl wants a voice recorder to catch my weird night time stories. I don't remember the next day - so the boys have fun telling me about my exploits. I have no idea how much is made up or not...

Any way - Mark currently thinks I am the best wife ever for some of it - I made an awesome plaque for his room as a random I love you present -
I uploaded them to my Myspace page - you can check it out there - they are public (i really need to get a deviantart page or something...)

http://www.myspace.com/lady_valkyrie

you can go to pics and look at the lady valkyrie designs album.

Please tell me what you think - I have been having fun with it...

Hej!

I am very excited because on the 19th, I fly to Boston for the holidays. I wanted to fly out sooner, but finals schedule and responsibilities would not cooperate. The good news is I am staying there until January 8th, so almost 3 weeks.

Anyone want to get together for the holidays? I will most likely have a car so I can get out and about to visit folks in New Hampshire too :) I miss all my friends and I cannot wait to get home.

If finals don't kill me before I get there.

Intellectual Inferno
You have an intellectual sexiness factor of 84!
Who am I to give you advice? You already know everything you need to know, and if there's something you don't know, you're eager to check it out. You are among the few special minds in the world that are truly free, totally creative, and absolutely sexy. The downside is, it's hard to find partners who can keep up with your quick, vigorously sexy mind. You often find yourself bored with anything less than exciting sex, and only those who equal your intellect, your openess, and your creativity can provide that excitment. You're an avid reader, a deep thinking, and a sexually liberated person. You enjoy learning for its own sake just as much as you enjoy sex for pleasure's own sake. Your partner, if he or she is able to keep up with you, is extremely lucky to have you.
