Diehl and I are looking for a new place in/around Montrose - so if you live around there please look for numbers and such for us. Also might be wanting room mates.
Check on Craigslist and search on "Saulnier" - our landlord has part of a duplex up. I don't know what rent's gonna be like - the only experience I have with his properties is our 3 bedroom - but it's a start, and you might want to see what he's offering.
I think this place (http://houston.craigslist.org/apa/966238088.html) is the one our landlord also owns. They're good people, and the building is very nice from the outside - haven't seen the interior.
We've driven past this place (http://houston.craigslist.org/apa/968158796.html) a couple of times - don't know much about the place, though.
This (http://houston.craigslist.org/apa/966939430.html) is a good location for a Metro-gnome like Diehl - it's a bit pricy, but it's a 3-bedroom, so you'd be able to have another roommate as well.
This one (http://houston.craigslist.org/apa/966895967.html) doesn't say where it is. I strongly suspect from the photo that it's the same complex I lived in as a student. If it is, it was nice when I was there and also reasonably bus-convenient.
Technically, this (http://houston.craigslist.org/apa/967300766.html) is in the Heights, not Montrose, but it'd be a lot closer to all of Diehl's old haunts than where you are now, there's a bus line right on Heights, and it's cheaper than most of the Montrose places are.
This (http://houston.craigslist.org/apa/965131879.html) is further up the Heights. I'm really only adding it because the kitchen looked cute.
Same here, (http://houston.craigslist.org/apa/964418917.html) although (a) that's a fair amount of house for that price, (b) it's walking distance from Dan Electro's, which amused me, and (c) it's also walking distance from a major Metro hub.
I managed to find a reasonable one bedroom! And it looks like they have even more reasonable two bedrooms!...
Although it's way on the other side of Bellaire from Montrose (about a 5/10 minute drive to the montrose area), http://www.lwpproperties.com/shlocation.htm -> this is the place I've just put in an application and security deposit for. Really Reasonable prices, some of the best square footage I've seen, Includes Electricity in the Rent, and has door to door trash pickup every weekday :D
